Overview and Introduction to Cabinet Restoration

April 11, 2015 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

The first class will be classroom style with example radios drawn from the collection. Attendees will learn a three step method in which an important first choice is made as to pursue restoration, preservation or conservation. The class will include assessment of the existing finish and a strategy for proceeding that allows for rework if you don’t like the results. Our instructors will also go over the materials needed to be successful and how to use them safely. Emphasis will be on wood cabinets but Bakelite, plastic and metal will be covered too. A short handout will be provided.

This class is free and available only to fully paid-up members. It will take place in the open backyard at Radio Central so there will be no restriction on class size. Seating will be provided and Q&A will be encouraged. There is ample parking in the adjacent lot.
