The Charles D. ‘Doc’ Herrold Award
Each year CHRS / BARM presents this prestigious award to people who exhibit ”Outstanding Achievement in the Preservation and Documentation of Early Radio”.
Last year the CHRS / BARM Board of Directors voted to present the 2011 Charles D. ‘Doc’ Herrold Award to Mr. Ben Fong-Torres, Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame Class of 2010. Ben’s career in Bay Area radio, journalism, writing and knowledge of rock music spans more than 4 decades. He began writing for Rolling Stone Magazine in 1968. Ben has written several books and currently writes the “Radio Waves” column for the San Francisco Chronicle. The 2011 award was presented by CHRS President Steve Kushman at our General Meeting at KRE this past December 3rd.Here is the elite list of previous Herrold recipients:
